We had to stop and turn around to try High On The Hog, and I'm so glad we did! We came in about 40 minutes to close, but still were able to order. If you're hungry, get the Big G Special. Pulled pork, 2 ribs, and a slab of bologna. They were all barbecued to perfection! The people who run High On The Hog are super friendly and make everyone feel welcome! I'll be back the next time I'm through this part of Mississippi.
It's really good barbecue and I didn't get the large but I did get full. I wish the sauce was thicker but it was tasty. The staff was very friendly and they took care of us. I wasn't sure where to park because it's an old gas station. The hours are wed- sat. I don't think they are open past 7 but would have to check again. I'd eat there again. It had a hometown feel.
Overall a good little lunch. Had the BBQ plate. Ribs fell off the bone. Tasty buy not quite as smoky as I would prefer. Hot BBQ sauce was good. Vinegar base, somewhat watery, but good. Owner was very nice.
Got a large Pork plate. There sauces are sweet and 2 vinegar base - regular, and hot. Comes with 2 sides. Got fries and beans. Also came with hamburger buns to make 2 sandwich. Got an incredible amount of food for the price. Everything was really good. Only $14.97! Filled me up. Can't beat it. Would be $20 + dollars anywhere else. Always give good reviews to places that have good food, good prices, and good portions
It's not that amazing East Carolina style BBQ, but it was great none the less. Great prices and good portions. Very homey and kind staff.
Stopped in after work for a large rib plate. It came with a bun and 2 sides. The large order was a 6 bone rib and the sides I chose were baked beans and white slaw. The ribs were excellent flavor and just the right amount of firmness you could pick the bones up and eat. Not over smoked at all just perfectly flavored, if you like vinegar based BBQ sauce asked for some extra on the side, very delicious. The baked beans were as equally tasteful as the ribs. A little smoky flavor with some pieces of smoked meat in it. The white slaw was delicious as well. Nothing fancy just a good white slaw with a creamy dressing.
Ribs fall off the bone and moist too. Tried the sweet and reg sauce I liked them mixed. The baked beans were amazing highly recommend the stop well worth trying. The slaw was great no complaints on it at all. Definitely getting it again. If you’re going to try everything I’d try the “Big Q” definitely will have some for later b4 pic added. I’m stuffed. -delish
On our way to the Ozarks, we found this hidden gem. The covered parking was amazing, traveling with dogs. The man running the place was incredibly nice. He went out of his way to bring us a bucket of water for our dogs, didn't even ask for it. We will stop on our next drive too! We had the pulled pork and fries...yum!
